Masters World Cup Teams gearing up for the Playoffs

New Zealand has 10 teams flying the Silver Fern throughout the 11 divisions on offer at the Masters World Cup 2018. Teams have been digging deep playing in challenging conditions with temperatures reaching 45+ degrees Celsius. Results have been a mixed bag with plenty of goals and wins throughout. With five goals to her name, Maeve Morrison (W60+) is leading the way on the women’s side and Umesh Hari (M40+) with eight on the men’s. Pressure is starting to build with the tournament playoffs and finals due to take place over the weekend. The Masters World Cup concludes on Sunday 5 August.

Here are the standings heading into the final days of play;

Masters Women

35+

Currently 5th. Final pool games against USA and England to play.

40+

Finished 2nd in their pool and are playing Zimbabwe for 9-10th placing.

45+

Finished 3rd in their pool. Playing off for 5-8th placings first up game against USA.

50+

Finished 2nd in their pool and are now playing South Africa for 9-10th placing.

55+

Finished 4th in their pool and are playing Netherlands for 5-6thplace.

60+

Currently 2nd in their pool. Final pool game is against Netherlands.



Masters Men

40+

Finished 4th in their pool. Next game is against Scotland playing for 9-12th placings.

45+

Finished 2nd in their pool. Play England for 1-8th placings.

50+

Finished 2nd in their pool and are now playing Ireland for 5-6th placing.

55+

Finished 4th in their pool and are playing Argentina for 9-12th placings.

The 2018 Ford National Hockey League encompasses nine days of action from 15-23 September at the National Hockey Stadium in Wellington, with NZ’s eight regions battling it out for bragging rights. 

The reigning Ford NHL champions are North Harbour (Men's Challenge Shield) and Midlands (Women's K Cup).
