Dean is a vastly experienced defender who has played more than 200 games for New Zealand. He was appointed as captain to the Black Sticks Men in November 2011, prior to the men's Champions Trophy in Auckland, NZ. He made his debut against Malaysia in 2001 and has developed into an extraordinarily organised player in the backfield. Dean’s awareness, vision and ability to deliver precision passes to players on the run make him one of the best in the business.
