The Black Sticks Men just headed of their Junior counterparts at Crown Relocations Stadium, Albany this afternoon in what was Coach Shane McLeod's final look at his players before announcing his team for the World Cup Qualifier, tomorrow.
The Black Sticks downed the Junior Black Sticks 4 - 3, after the Juniors got off to a flying 2 - 0 start in the first half. Goal scorers for the Juniors were Nick Wilson, Simon Child and Stephen Jenness. Senior side scorers were Andy Hayward who converted three drag flicks and Phil Burrows.
The win made it a clean sweep for the senior side from three matches, but more importantly gave the players much needed game time, leading up to the BDO World Cup Qualifier which begins in Invercargill next Saturday, 5 November.
Te Black Sticks Men have begun their final buildup to the BDO Men's World Cup Qualifier which starts in Invercargill next Saturday, with a solid 8 - 2 win over the Junior Black Sticks.
The two sides met at Crown Relocations Stadium, Albany, last night. Phil Burrows picked up four goals, Shea McAleese 2, and Priyesh Bhana 2. For the JBS the goal scorers were Joseph Bartholomew and Blair Hilton.
Senior players Blair Hopping, Ryan Archibald and Phil Burrows were in outstanding form. The next warm up match is 2pm on Saturday, at North Harbour.
