Rules and Interpretations

Level 1 Umpire Courses
These courses are suitable for umpires, players and coaches.  Anyone involved in hockey at secondary school/club level or above should consider attending.  The course covers rule interpretations, modern trends in the game, umpire pathways and more!  Course presenters are current international or NHL umpires and officials.

Theory Exam Papers
These four papers (including answers) provide a wide range of interesting scenarios and umpire questions.  They should be downloaded and used as part of local and regional umpiring initiatives.  Junior umpires will benefit from working through these papers as part of their development plan.  Some umpires may wish to formally complete the exam and then mark it themselves, others may choose to work through questions in groups or use as part of facilitated discussions.
