Who Is CoachMate For?

CoachMate is for everyone in our hockey community.

While it’s designed first and foremost for coaches, anyone involved in the game will benefit. CoachMate gives coaches simple, tailored support, to plan engaging sessions, grow their coaching skills, and feel confident. All activities and tips are built around best‑practice coaching and designed specifically for Foundation Coaches and Foundation Players, so no prior hockey experience is needed.

But CoachMate goes far beyond coaching. Players, parents, supporters, clubs, schools, officials, and associations can all use the communication tools to stay connected. It brings people together in one place, helping our hockey system stay aligned, informed and supported.

Confidence in Your Coaching

Every activity and practice plan in CoachMate is created to maximise player engagement, enjoyment, and development. They align with the Hockey NZ Player Competency Framework and are built to reflect the realities of our unique community hockey environment.

CoachMate provides:

  • Activities built on best‑practice coaching

  • Content designed for Foundation Coaches and Foundation Players

  • Adaptable activities suitable for any team or environment

The heavy lifting is done for you. By using CoachMate, coaches can feel confident they’re delivering quality sessions that help players reach their potential—and foster a lifelong love of hockey.
